Even as an Ayurvedic expert, sifting through the Shilajit market has been one of the most challenging parts of my career. I can only imagine what it must look like to the average consumer.
Here are a few things I had to consider to figure out what the most authentic, and pure Shilajit in the market was.
1. Consistency / Testing
Was it in it's pure resin state, or runny like honey? There seemed to be a lot of misinformation, and a lot of brands sharing fake information about it. Shilajit is a resin, it comes from decomposed microbial matter and is supposed to have a tar-like consistency.
Extensive heavy metal tests are also crucial for a natural supplement like Shilajit.
2. The form it was in, and where it comes from.
Was it a powder, gummy, or raw Shilajit resin? A lot of brands have left the consumers confused. Spreading misinformation about it, and after finding out that most brands are drop shipping companies coming from China, this was no surprise.
3. The potency of the Shilajit.
Sometimes dependent on the form, the compound that gives Shilajit the majority of its benefits is called "Fulvic Acid." Shilajit is filled with bioactive compounds, but fulvic in particular provides users with the majority of benefits that Shilajit comes with.
After extensive research, I purchased, tested, and researched the most popular Shilajit products and went through the rigorous process below.
